Ballerina was written by Mike the day before it was recorded in the summer of 2005. It was an early morning studio call after a late night following a gig at the Old Point Bar where Mike met Made J., a guiitarist visiting from Bali. Mike invited Made J to join him in the studio the next morning. Both men licking their wounds from the previous evening's festivities, they recorded Ballerina; and the result is an amazing raw recording that captured the honest, reflective nature of the song.
